A group of sixteen Hindu people are suing the Mughal Express restaurant over a food mix-up. These Hindus were vegetarians and upon their visit to the restaurant, they were accidently given samosas with meat in them instead of the vegetarian variety. They are now suing the restaurant to pay for a trip to the Ganges River in order to cleanse their souls from this sin. Other Hindus are angry at this group because they are taking advantage of the legal system. According to these other Hindus, this group can easily go to the local temple and have no need to go to the Ganges. Apparently the reason to go to the Ganges would be for its greater spiritual power.
A similar event happened at a McDonalds, in which 10 million dollars were paid to Hindus over an issue of beef-flavouring in the French Fries. All these matters seem to be taken largely out of hand, yet that is how most court cases and suing/legal issues start. If it was a smaller sum of money, the restaurants could likely settle. Yet when these things happen it is probably best to let the matter go or else risk the bad publicity given to the religion itself. Ultimately, measures will probably be taken to avoid this in the future. It is also likely that actions like this will have further repercussions to the people trying to take advantage of the system as well.
